At Modern Screens, we are committed to providing quality magnetic mosquito nets, retractable screens, Velcro screens, sliding window screens and other custom-made screening solutions. Because many of our products are measured, manufactured and prepared specifically for individual windows and doors, our refund policy is designed to be fair while protecting both the customer and the business.
1. Custom-Made Products
Most Modern Screens products are custom-made according to measurements provided or taken for your specific windows and doors.
Once production or fabrication has started, orders for custom-made screens generally cannot be cancelled or refunded because the materials and products have been prepared specifically for your property.
Customers are therefore encouraged to confirm measurements, screen type, colour, design and other specifications before production begins.
2. Deposits and Payments
Where a deposit is required, production or preparation of the order may begin after the agreed deposit has been received.
A deposit may be non-refundable once materials have been purchased, fabrication has started or resources have been committed specifically to the customer's order.
Any applicable balance should be paid according to the agreed payment terms.
3. Cancellation Before Production
If you cancel an order before measurements, material preparation, fabrication or production has started, Modern Screens may consider a refund of the amount paid, subject to any reasonable costs already incurred.
Where costs have already been incurred on your behalf, those costs may be deducted from the refundable amount.
4. Cancellation After Production Has Started
Once fabrication, preparation or custom manufacturing has started, the order generally cannot be cancelled or refunded.
This is because custom screens are produced according to the customer's specific measurements and requirements and may not be suitable for resale to another customer.
5. Incorrect Measurements
Modern Screens takes reasonable care when measuring windows and doors for installation.
Where measurements are taken by our team, we will use those measurements for production. If incorrect measurements are provided by the customer, or if the customer changes the opening after measurements have been confirmed, additional costs may apply for adjustments, remanufacturing or replacement.
6. Product Defects
If a screen is found to have a genuine manufacturing defect or an installation-related issue attributable to Modern Screens, the customer should notify us as soon as reasonably possible.
We may inspect the product and, where appropriate, repair, adjust or replace the affected component or screen.
A refund will generally not be the first remedy where the issue can reasonably be corrected through repair or replacement.
7. Installation Issues
If an installation issue is caused by our workmanship, Modern Screens will assess the problem and, where appropriate, correct the installation.
Customers should not modify, remove or attempt to repair an installed screen before contacting us, as unauthorised alterations may affect our ability to determine the cause of the problem.
8. Customer-Caused Damage
Refunds, replacements or free repairs may not apply where damage results from misuse, accidents, improper handling, vandalism, alterations, negligence, pets, excessive force or failure to follow the recommended care and maintenance instructions.
Normal wear and tear is also not considered a manufacturing defect.
9. Wrong Product Selection
Customers are responsible for confirming their preferred screen type before production begins.
Modern Screens can provide guidance and recommendations based on the customer's windows, doors and requirements. However, once a custom product has been approved and production has started, changing from magnetic to retractable, Velcro, sliding or another screen type may result in additional charges.
10. Refund Processing
Where a refund has been approved, Modern Screens will communicate the amount and applicable refund method to the customer.
Refund processing times may depend on the original payment method and the financial institution or payment provider involved.
11. Non-Refundable Costs
Where applicable, the following costs may be deducted from an approved refund:
Site visits or surveys already completed
Materials already purchased specifically for the order
Custom fabrication or production costs
Labour already performed
Transportation or delivery costs already incurred
Installation work already completed
Other reasonable costs directly related to fulfilling the order
12. Inspection Before Final Payment
Customers are encouraged to inspect the completed installation and confirm that the agreed work has been completed.
Where a balance remains payable after installation, any genuine concerns should be raised promptly so that Modern Screens can assess and address them.
13. Refund Requests
To request a refund or report an issue, customers should contact Modern Screens and provide:
Customer name
Order or quotation details
Date of purchase
Description of the issue
Relevant photographs or videos where applicable
Proof of payment where required
We may request additional information or arrange an inspection before making a final decision.
14. Fair Resolution
Our objective is to resolve legitimate concerns fairly and professionally.
Where a problem can be corrected through adjustment, repair, replacement or reinstallation, Modern Screens may provide that remedy instead of issuing a monetary refund.
Each refund request will be assessed according to the circumstances of the order, the stage of production and the nature of the issue.
15. Policy Changes
Modern Screens reserves the right to update this Refund Policy when necessary. The version applicable to an order will generally be the policy communicated or agreed at the time the order was placed.
